Daily in-class instruction is from 9:00am-10:30am in Room 192 of the High School (building entrance #H15) enter school grounds at Driveway #1. Daily in-car instruction is from 12:30pm-2:00pm, the pick-up point is the parking lot located just outside the classroom entrance between the High School and the Bus Garage
Driver & Traffic Safety Education in New York State schools is a course implemented via a joint partnership between the New York State Education Department (NYSED), and the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The Driver Education course is intended to educate students (age 16 or older) on appropriate driving skills and habits as well as playing a responsible role in the highway transportation/safety system. Course highlights include 24 hours of classroom instruction and 24 hours of behind the wheel training and observation. Students who satisfactorily complete the course are eligible to sit for their road test and receive the MV-285: Student Certificate of Completion. Students must pass both classroom and in-car instruction with a grade of 65 or higher in order to receive their certificate of completion. The MV-285: Student Certificate of Completion is issued to students who successfully complete the NYSED Driver & Traffic Safety Education (DTSE) course. Please refer to the DMV for all road test conditions and requirements related to young drivers. Driver Education is a serious time commitment. Do NOT sign up for Driver Ed if you know you will be missing class for ANY reason (including but not limited to academic events, athletic events, religious events, family vacation, employment obligations, etc). Daily attendance is MANDATORY! You must be 16 years old AND hold a valid NYS learners permit or drivers license by the start of the session to attend Driver Education. Your permit is not required to register. Session One runs from Monday, July 7th - Monday, July 28th (16 Days total). Refunds are only issued if the cancellation request is received by 10:00 am on July 1st! NOTE: There is a $17.00 cancellation fee if you cancel a Driver Education registration that was made online using an echeck or credit card. No refunds after the course begins, NO EXCEPTIONS! Each option includes 90 minutes of in-car instruction AND 90 minutes of in-class instruction daily. *In the event of canceled classes, Iroquois Driver Education reserves the right to add dates as needed in order to meet the NYSED and DMV 48 hour requirement. REGISTRATION OPENS ONLINE - MAY 1, 2025 at 8:00am.
